UNDRESS | 2025
Oil paint on paper - 42cm x 56cm
These painted self-portraits address Flynn’s desire for gender-neutrality. They show the artist in a state of partial undress, obscuring their perceived gender from the onlooker. Each image captures a moment from an endurance-based performative action in which Flynn repeatedly undressed and redressed before a self-timed digital camera. Marking the artist’s first return to painting in over twenty years, these works initiate a new series that translates digital artefacts from Flynn’s creative practice into material, painted forms.
